CRUZIN MAGAZINE

CRUZIN MAGAZINE #267 / SWEET PATINA #5

Old paint, original paint, patina’d paint and no paint at all – if you’d rather spend your time cruising than cleaning, then you’ll dig our 5th instalment of our Sweet Patina special edition! Not that these vehicles are less loved, it’s just that many of their owners are rediscovering the drive with our the stress of stone chips and fingerprints!

Interestingly, our main cover car, Ray O’Brien’s 1950 Buick Special is the least modified of our righteous rides, but you’ll appreciate the story and his efforts to retain what remains of this old sedan’s original soul. Jeff Umbers’ Chevy pickup and Jesse Bourke’s blown Dodge have some mumbo under (and over!) the hood, and Ric Pudney’s 1930 Ford is just a neat roadster built for fun.

But it’s not all low maintenance – Stephen Evers Model A needs a once over here and there, but rust he doesn’t have to worry about thanks to it’s all aluminium body! At the other end of the scale, Blake Muscat is living a teenage dream with a neat ’33 Ford pickup that’s perfectly imperfect. The same could be said for those hot rod survivors that stole the limelight at this year’s Hot Rod & Custom Auto Expo in Sydney.

We also check out America’s favourite beach race, The Race of Gentlemen, but not on a beach – instead at a historic airport location. If you’ve got a TROG racer yourself, traditionally a bare bones early Ford, then you’ll be interested in what the Aussie father/son team at Pacific Quick Change are up to!

Grab it at your local, or buy online at www.drivebuy.com.au and pay no postage within Australia.

It's only fair to share…
