CRUZIN MAGAZINE

CRUZIN MAGAZINE #261 / SPEED EDITION

As with previous editions, our Speed Specials are a celebration of competition, and paying tribute to our forefathers. There’s a great story behind each of our six feature cars in this edition, some of which boast heritage back to the 1970s, such as Kym White’s Boss-A-Nova Chevy, and Ian Splatt’s road-going Bantam altered. Guys like Wayne Murray with his A/T Special and Andrew Hutchinson with his salt’d Model A have wholeheartedly embraced the glory days of rodding and racing, while Cedric Meeks was born into hot rodding thanks to a father who regularly tooled on rods and customs in California’s golden years. Then there’s Graham Neal’s 1955 Chevy gasser – chopped, flip front, two-door’d and riding high with a dual quad big block Chevy, and it’s just a barrel of fun.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Speed Edition without some old time drag racing, so we’ve got 1/8 mile nostalgia antics from Mildura. We also take a garage tour of Lee Loose’s extensive collection of cool cars, old school racing gear and memorabilia, but even then we only scratch the surface. And while Bonneville Speed Week this year barely got warmed up before getting flooded out, ‘Aussie Norm’ Hardinge steps up with an update on his racing activity (or lack of!) and the 2023 meet at Lake Gairdner. Throw in PB’s regular art and music columns and you should have enough to see you through to the new year!

It's only fair to share…
